Metis Engine

“Metis Engine” is the name of the device disaggregation and estimation technology developed by Informetis.
Here we define and introduce the basic principles of device disaggregation.

Device Disaggregation Definition
Device disaggregation is a technology which enables the visualisation of “which,” “when,” and “how much” power is being used by each device based on analysis of data collected from a single smart sensor installed inside a Consumer Unit.
Basic Principles of Device Disaggregation
The current waveform estimated at the consumer unit is a combination of the waveforms of the individual appliances operating at the time.
The device disaggregation algorithm estimates the operational status of individual appliances by identifying the combination of waveforms which match the constantly changing source current waveform.
Example of Device Disaggregation Results
Here are the results of device disaggregation when the device disaggregation algorithm is applied to a day of estimated data for a standard home. The results show “which,” “when” and “how much” power is used that day for individual devices.
